Barack Obama during an interview with Brian Tyler Cohen describes the respect and professionalism the current president and its administration has lost.
On Feb. 14, former President Obama stated that President Trump and his administration have lost respect and decorum for the White House, describing the administration as a “clown show.”
Obama made the remark in an interview with political commentator Brian Tyler Cohen when asked about Trump’s now deleted video on Truth Social portraying the Obamas as apes.
The controversial incident happened when President Trump attempted to post content alleging voter fraud and claiming that the 2020 election was rigged. However, at the end of the one-minute video, a short and racist clip appeared showing AI-generated apes with the heads of Barack and Michelle Obama.
This incident is part of a larger pattern of behavior that has lowered the standards of the American presidency. And as a result, the Trump administration has turned the White House into a stage for controversy rather than a place of serious leadership.
Since the president’s first term, there have been numerous instances in which Trump and his appointed staff engaged in unprofessional conduct, much of which have been brushed over by the administration.
Below are several examples of what can be characterize as “clown show” behavior made by President Trump and his administration.
Regarding the AI generated clip, the administration denied responsibility, claiming the snippet was simply a depiction of the Disney film The Lion King. And as expected, the president refused to apologize, insisting he “didn’t make a mistake.”
From across multiple incidents, the lack of respect and professionalism that Obama spoke about is evident. Since Trump’s first term, his infamous tactics have fueled controversy, polarized the nation, and drawn global criticism regarding U.S. leadership.
Obama further responded to the president’s unprofessional style of authority, stating that there is essentially no shame in the way Trump and his staff behaves.
“The majority of Americans find this behavior deeply troubling,” Obama said. “You had to have some sort of decorum and … respect for the office — that’s been lost,” he added.
